Peacock Blue

Tuesday, February 28, 2012
Peacock Blue shade is a rich and opulent hue, bright and bold, and will certainly add an attractive pop of colour to your wardrobe.  This Green-tinged blue is utterly eye catching.  Its neither as business like as navy nor as regal as royal, this shade lends a feeling of relaxed opulence and elegance.

Try the hue in a solid dress, or mix it with complementary colours, like silver and gray.  But consider teaming it with a deep purple or warm orange, red if you really want to intensify its impact.  add a pop of peacock into your everyday attire from fashion and accessories, shoes, nail polish and eyeshadow.  you  cant go wrong.

this is a gorgeous color!  Although this color is strong and bold, it never seems to overwhelm. Peacock Blue is versatile and timeless.

Trend Report: Houndstooth

I am in love with Houndstooth! I think it is so classy and chic! It’s too die for! It’s also a craze right now amongst celebrities like Lady Gaga and Kim Kardashian.

Throughout several decades the trend has been reinvented and modernized to include a substitution of different colors, worn on a number of different pieces of clothing, and even as a nail design. And once high end designers like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Emporio Armani, and Moschino started to use the trend in their collections in the 1990′s; it became highly popularized and worn by Hollywood celebrities.

The check has been splashed across a multitude of fabrications, seen on tweed texture pants and a slinky silk shirts, there’s something both modern and classic about it.  Pick one piece and keep the rest of the outfit clean and neutral—houndstooth is bold enough to be the sole focal point or a houndstooth accessory, like a handbag or scarf, to keep you from being overwhelmed.

New Trend: The Peplum

Starting in the forties, then shown again in the eighties; the peplum trend is here for another come back! A surprisingly versatile addition to your new season wardrobe, chic peplums add a new dimension to skirt suits and separates for day.

Peplum: A short over-skirt or ruffle attached to the waistline of a skirt, top, or dress.  it looks like the super-flirty trend is here to stay.  The waist-specific fit-and-flare silhouette was seen on almost every New York runway.  Designers have added peplums to sharp tailoring, giving a dash of femininity to classic workwear, wheres some designers gave the trend its prettiest incarnation with peplums of layered lace of pretty frills for all-out romanticism.  The feminine peplum is back, as seen at Stella McCartney, Jason Wu and Chanel.  And its certainly in demand.

Why We Love Peplum – This added ruffle adds a perfect ladylike flair to your ensemble. Slimming your waistline and accentuating your beautiful, womanly curves at the same time – what’s not to love?? With peplum, your silhouette will be looking fit and curvaceous in seconds.

Types of Peplum – When choosing your perfect peplum, keep in mind there are two versions: fitted and flared. If you want to show off an hourglass figure, choose a fitted peplum. Flared, on the other hand, will add curves to your hips and is the perfect choice for boy-shaped bodies.

This body slimming, curve accenting trend is all the rage

Hats - Fall/Winter

Monday, February 27, 2012
Hats are everywhere this season. Whether you are a man or a woman hat trend applies for Fall/Winter 2011/2012.  As the cold season approaches you’d think a hat would be more of a necessity but some of these hats are really worn just to complete the look, get a certain style, or jump on a bandwagon with other fashionistas who love the hat trend

Wide brim hat: They are romantic, ultra feminine, and they will certainly catch everyone’s attention.  These large brim, floppy hats are probably the best complement to the free spirited Bohemian look that is so trendy this fall.

Fedora hat: If you prefer classic, boy-chic style, then you should definitely go for Fedora hat.  They came in a variety of colors and designs, and this season they are usually decorated with feathers which makes them incredibly catchy. Fedora hats look amazing when paired with formal outfits, but they are just as good when used as a complement to the daytime casual look

Vintage hats: In the ’60s, women wore hats as much as they wore their other accessories — it was a necessary piece to a look. Vintage-style cloche hats are making their way back into stores.  the 60′s pillbox being one of the hottest, come in various shades, shapes and prints. These tiny hats can be worn as a perfect accessory for formal and party attire.

Bowler hats:  The bowler hats are already very popular among the trendsetters worldwide, and judging by the combinations they’ve made, the bowler hats are perfect if you want to  give your wardrobe an interesting , edgy twist.

Winter should be “cool”, so make sure you enjoy yourself.

Local is lekker - Proudly South African

Tuesday, February 7, 2012
Fashion by Miss Rich is Proudly South African fashion, manufacturing and sourcing everything locally, in order to support the local economy and help create jobs in the country.  Everyone always turns to overseas for fashion.  Why, when we have such brilliant local designers producing unbelievable fashion right at our fingertips.

"About 160000 jobs have been lost in the industry since 1996, the height of employment in the industry." said South African Textile Workers Union researcher Simon Eppel.
With a lot of our mills being put out of business from the cheaper Chinese fabrics coming in, we need to strengthen our mills so we don't have to purchase our raw materials from abroad.

supporting local designers, mills, and the manufacturing sector will not only help improve local competitiveness, but would go a long way toward developing new enterprises and boosting existing ones.

We should think about producing locally and support the initiative of buying local, as "local is lekker!!"

Style Tip 4

Sexy Style

DONT wear a skimpy top and skimpy bottom.  If your top is tight or low cut or has spaghetti straps, wear a skirt that's knee length and not sheer.  Same with tight jeans.  Remember, dressing sexy is achieved by wearing one sexy thing at a time.

DONT try force your figure into every style.  Certain styles will never look good on you.  Respect that fact and dress in what suits you.

DONT be that girl with her thong hanging out of her jeans.  A bra strap is all right.  So is wearing cute underwear.  Even though no one notices, it'll still make you feel sexy.  And feeling sexy gives you confidence, which makes you look sexy.

DONT use dressing sexy  to get something from a guy.  To manipulate or make him jealous.  you'll end up regretting it later.

DO check out v'neck tops.  They look great on everyone, no matter what your size or shape, and create the illusion on a slimmer waist, an attractive feature when dressing sexy.

DO look for skinny fabrics and cuts.  Fabrics that flow and drape over the body create more of a vertical line, making you look slimmer.

DO take care of your body.  Treat your body well, your hair, skin, nails, eat right and exercise.  See how sexy and confident it makes you feel, no matter what you wearing.

DO check out the latest fashion trends.  Maxi Dresses and skirts, chic shapes, vintage looks and belts are in and hot.

DO remember less is more.  Not too much make up or perfume.  When a girl is natural she is hot and not trying to hard.

Style Tip 3

 Its all about the basics

- a good pair of jeans go for comfort, there are lots of styles that are fashionable this year.  It is important to try them on before you buy.  If going for skinny jeans get stretchy ones.  If you have curvy hips go for low cut boot cut jeans to show them off.  If you need a little more room for thighs and calves go for a relaxed fit, or for the bum go for low waist, low pockets and balance things out with flared ankles.  Go For dark colours and textures.

- a leather jacket is an Autumn/Winter basic.  Go for a good feminine cut, no need to look like a biker unless you choose that style.

- a classic suit, if you don't wear one to work its great for many occasions

- a white blouse it is versatile and feminine

- a proper coat, go for a feminine cut at a length that suits you

- evening dresses, think of the whole outfit before you buy and make sure you have shoes and jewellery to match.  Get a versatile dress that can be dressed down for occasions too.

- high heels the shoes to dance the night way in

- appropriate bag.  Barrel bag for over night, clutch bag for evening, shoulder bag for day

- the most importantly, the correct Underwear.   Start off with a good foundation and the rest of the outfit will follow.  Go and get yourself measured if you are not sure
